Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to common questions about LooP and how it works

What do I do with my feedback?

  • Think about it, contemplate changes.
  • Conversation starter with your line manager (share what YOU want).
  • Repeat over time.
  • Add LooP Report/data to your CV.
  • Next interview, to the question "How would your students/colleagues/clients describe you?" answer with real aggregated data (affirming that you're not just imagining this answer).

How do you ensure trust & data integrity?

Feedback you can trust. Reports others can verify.

LooP is built for professional credibility. We distinguish clearly between feedback for growth and reports intended for external use, and we apply different safeguards to each.

Formative Reports

For reflection and development in educational contexts. Formative reports support learning, not credentialing.

  • Private and editable: Designed for internal use.
  • Continuously updated: Reflects ongoing progress.
  • Visible only to authorized users: Keeps data within the loop.
  • Not externally verifiable: Intended for growth only.
  • Schools produce reports: For students, parents, advisors.

Certified Reports

For institutions, employers, and official review. Once issued, a Certified Report cannot be altered.

  • Opt-in and frozen at issuance: You decide when the report is ready.
  • Cryptographically sealed: Ensuring the data is tamper-proof.
  • Independently verifiable: Trust is built directly into the report.
  • Portable: Valid across various roles and institutions.

How Verification Works

Each Certified Report includes a public verification link or QR code. Anyone can confirm the following without needing an account, login, or specialized software:

  • Authenticity: Verify the report is genuine.
  • Integrity: Ensure the content has not been changed.
  • Issuance date: Confirm when it was officially created.
  • Issuing organization: Identify the authority behind the report.

User-Owned Data

Trust is built into the report, not locked inside a platform.

  • Users control when certification is requested.
  • Users decide when and with whom reports are shared.
  • Data is never sold or stored on public blockchains.

LooP delivers feedback for growth and certified reports for trust.

Can people see that feedback is from me?

No. The feedback you enter into the app is not identified as coming from you for any other user in your organization. It is never shared.

This is why new users can only see their dashboard feedback once they've received a minimum number of feedback events (default is 5 feedback events, minimum, though organizations can modify this minimum).

Can I be honest in my feedback about my peers and superiors?

Yes. Your feedback is ANONYMOUS. This means no one but you knows that you gave certain feedback.

No supervisor can seek retribution, no peer knows from whom their feedback has come. Your organization, its leadership, your peers and supervisors all need frank and fair feedback in order to improve.

Anonymity means it is real and valuable.

Fair and frank feedback is appropriate; sandbagging and backstabbing are not (and an algorithm addresses negative bias. See FAQ below).

What happens with unfair, political, excessively negative feedback?

When a feedback event is net negative, the user is alerted, and the feedback is flagged in the system.

Does my organization own my data?

No, data belongs to the user. It travels with you, through your education and career, in your control.

Isn't the LooP app a substitute for a culture of face-to-face feedback?

LooP app vs. face-to-face is not either/or; it's one AND the other!

LooP is a tool to inform face-to-face feedback. The data that users gain through the app process makes feedback conversations data-supported. As such, the feedback can benefit from context beyond the mere anecdotal.

Face-to-face feedback evaporates; LooP data is kept, aggregated, and becomes part of users reports, for current and future use and documentation, think performance reviews, resumes, recruitment, interviewing...

How is my meter range of positivity determined?

A simple algorithm aggregates your feedback into the range based on your accumulated feedback. The three ranges are deliberately broad categories to give a general idea rather than any specific score. The app's focus is qualitative feedback, not quantitative.

Do I have to complete all of the profile categories?

There is required and optional profile information. We deliberately kept required profile information to a minimum for ease of use.

Is LooP GDPR compliant?

Yes. Your data is protected, and yours. At any time you may request that your data be expunged.

Who subscribes?

Organizations pay for user's subscriptions (but do not own and cannot access their data).

Users may subscribe independently.
